Arad Bert’s art is known for its imaginative and often dark depictions of moments when things are not at their best. As a figurative surrealist, he works in various mediums, with a predominant focus on oil. Born in the Ivory Coast (Africa) in 1974, Bert later moved with his family to the United States and eventually settled in Israel following his father's death. Despite being largely self-taught, Bert's passion for the human form led him to pursue five years of academic sketching studies under Israeli artist Menahem Mizrahi (1954-2011). His love for surrealism, skateboarding, punk counter culture, and tattooing serves as a significant influence on his artwork. The rich history and conflicts of the country in which he lives subtly permeate his art, resulting in the portrayal of grotesque characters, dynamic and key moments that stem from his subconscious, inviting viewers to interpret and reflect on the images and themselves.
